Hello friends,

The past year and a half has been challenging, and the pandemic has highlighted and deepened existing inequities in our community. Women, youth, BIPOC communities, people living with disabilities, and older adults have been disproportionately impacted. Years of inaction and cuts by Liberal and Conservative governments meant that our safety net was not prepared to protect the most vulnerable in our community.

Going back to normal after the pandemic won’t work for our community. We must actively pursue a just recovery - one that creates a new normal with social, environmental, and economic justice for all.

Jagmeet Singh, myself, and the NDP will always put your needs first:

  • Fighting for a comprehensive and permanent sick leave program for everyday workers.
  • Ending profit in long-term care homes.
  • Implementing a universal, quality, and equitable childcare program.
  • Ensuring income stability during the pandemic and a just recovery, focusing on people not corporations.
  • Tackling climate change by ending fossil fuel subsidies, implementing energy-saving building retrofits and a Green New Deal.
  • Implementing public, universal pharmacare and dental care because your healthcare should not be tied to your job.

I am committed to being brave and bold in the fight to bring the NDP back to Winnipeg North and ensuring that the needs of our community are met with no one left behind.

Join the movement. Together, we can make change for the better in our community.

With love and courage,
Melissa Chung-Mowat
